Experimental Study on the Effect of Eucommia ulmoides Oliver upon the Hyperlipidemia

Abstract
|
|
|
Eighty healthy albino rabbits weighing around 1.8kg were used for the experiment an divides into 4 groups:
1. Control group fed basic diet.
2. Cholesterol administered group feed basic diet with´cholesterol 500mg/kg and corn oil 1.5gm g per rabbit per day.
3: Cholesterol and Eucommia ulmoides Oliver administered group fed basic diet with cholesterol 500 g/kg, corn oil 1.5gm/kg and Eucommia ulmoides Oliver 30mg/kg per´ rabbit per day.
4. Eucommia ulmoides Oliver administered group fed basic diet with Eucommia ulmoides Oliver 30 glkg per rabbit per day.
The result obtained from this study were as follows:
1. In the cholesterol administered group, serum cholesterol, triglyceride, phospholipid and total lipid evels were elevated together with the blood pressure, while high density lipoprotein-cholesterol level depre. as compared with those in the control group.
2. In the cholesterol and Eucommia ulmoides Oliver ad ministered group, serum cholesterol, triglyce de,phospholipid and total lipid levels were depressed together with the blood pressure, while high deity lipoprotein-cholesterol level elevated as compared with those in the cholesterol administered group. 3. In the Eucommia ulmoides Oliver administered group, the blood pressure and serum lipid levels revealed no significant changes.
